Exciting Times Ahead for Disneyland as Seasonal Refurbishments Begin!

Disneyland, the magical kingdom that so many of us hold dear, is gearing up for a special 70th anniversary celebration! But before we all gather to celebrate the anniversary, the park has announced that there will be some temporary closures for a handful of attractions for seasonal refurbishments starting this April and May.

What’s Closing?

In total, ten attractions will be taking a break. These beloved rides include:

Matterhorn Bobsleds
Soarin’ Around the World
Enchanted Tiki Room
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Mad Tea Party
King Arthur Carrousel
Chip ‘n Dale’s Gadget Coaster
Sorcerer’s Workshop
Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome
Fantasmic

Refurbishment Schedule

If you’re planning a visit, here’s what you need to know about when attractions will be closed:

Dumbo the Flying Elephant will be closed on April 22-23.
Mad Tea Party will take a brief break on May 5-6.
King Arthur Carrousel will be unavailable on May 7-8.
Starting April 28, Enchanted Tiki Room will enter a longer refurbishment, and the Matterhorn Bobsleds will close on May 5 with no confirmed return date yet.
Both Sorcerer’s Workshop and Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome in Disney California Adventure will be closed from April 28 through May 12, 2025.
Soarin’ Around the World is set to have a brief reopening from April 22-27 before closing again from April 28 to May 1.
Chip ‘n Dale’s Gadget Coaster will close on May 19 and will remain shut for the rest of the month.
The nighttime spectacular “Fantasmic” will not be performed on select nights, including from April 21-24, April 28-May 1, May 4-8, and May 12-15.

On a lighter note, if you’re sad to see your favorite rides closed temporarily, remember that not all attractions are shutting down! The Indiana Jones Adventure is anticipated to make a grand return on April 25 after its own five-week refurbishment. Meanwhile, It’s a Small World is currently undergoing an extended seasonal refurbishment and will reopen on May 9.

Meet & Greet Areas

For those who enjoy meeting beloved Disney characters, you might want to note that the Pixie Hollow meet-and-greet area in Fantasyland has been closed since September and is not expected to reopen until June 2025. Also, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will remain closed until fall 2026, right in time for the anniversary celebrations!

Something New to Look Forward To

And here’s an exciting piece of news! A new animatronic show titled “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” will debut on July 17, 2025, coinciding with the celebration of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.
