Disneyland preparing for seasonal refurbishments ahead of its 70th anniversary.
As Disneyland approaches its 70th anniversary, the park has announced temporary closures for ten attractions for seasonal refurbishments. Key rides such as Matterhorn Bobsleds and Dumbo the Flying Elephant will be affected over the next few weeks, with some attractions closed until mid-2025. While some favorites will be unavailable, guests can look forward to the reopening of Indiana Jones Adventure shortly before the anniversary celebrations.
Disneyland, the magical kingdom that so many of us hold dear, is gearing up for a special 70th anniversary celebration! But before we all gather to celebrate the anniversary, the park has announced that there will be some temporary closures for a handful of attractions for seasonal refurbishments starting this April and May.

On a lighter note, if you’re sad to see your favorite rides closed temporarily, remember that not all attractions are shutting down! The Indiana Jones Adventure is anticipated to make a grand return on April 25 after its own five-week refurbishment. Meanwhile, It’s a Small World is currently undergoing an extended seasonal refurbishment and will reopen on May 9.
For those who enjoy meeting beloved Disney characters, you might want to note that the Pixie Hollow meet-and-greet area in Fantasyland has been closed since September and is not expected to reopen until June 2025. Also, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will remain closed until fall 2026, right in time for the anniversary celebrations!
And here’s an exciting piece of news! A new animatronic show titled “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” will debut on July 17, 2025, coinciding with the celebration of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.
